Flyboard Surf Club is a family owned and operated business. With 10 years of experience, we have perfected our technique of effectively and safely teaching people to flyboard! The flyer is strapped into the flyboard which has two downward pointing nozzles that launch high pressure water propelling the rider into the air! The power source is a 155 horsepower jet ski that has 100% of it's thrust redirected into the hose that connects to the bottom of the flyboard. As a result, the flyer has 155 horsepower in their feet that they can use to control their flight.
While riding the flyboard, a skilled flyer has complete control and can choose where to fly and even do tricks, however a beginner may take some falls at first. The thrust is controlled by the instructor to ensure the safety of the flyer. For example, if a flyer is flying to close to land or nearby watercraft, the instructor will gently lower the flyer back into the water.
On average, a first-time-flyboarder takes about 15-20 minutes to be able to maintain controlled flight. People who have experience in other balance related sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding tend to excel at flyboarding in just minutes.
When someone flyboards with Flyboard Surf Club, they will always be above water to make for harmless wipe-outs and be supervised by an experienced instructor. In 10 years of operation, Flyboard Surf Club customers have had no serious injuries. The worst injuries we have had was a single bloody nose and some scratches on toes and knees. However, the vast majority of customers that fly with us experience no injuries.
The two factors that make up a good flyboarder are leg strength and balance. As a general rule of thumb, someone should be at least 100 lbs and 8 years old to flyboard. The maximum weight on a flyboard is approximately 300 lbs. People even up to the age of 80 have successfully flyboarded with Flyboard Surf Club.
